Media Street: Latest news and rumours from AFL television, radio and newspapers
See why Footy newshound Tom Browne’s exclusive Twitter news about Collingwood captain Scott Pendlebury last week sent the optics meter into another stratosphere.

Don't miss out on the headlines from AFL. Followed categories will be added to My News.
Want to know what really happened inside that New York bar last year?
Well, Jordan De Goey is apparently ready to reveal all … at Ringwood’s Manhattan Hotel.
It will cost you $49 to have the privilege for the “completely uncensored show” with De Goey and fellow Magpie Brayden Maynard.
The ‘Jordy & Bruzzy’ show is also a no video event which adds to the suggestion that De Goey might finally open up about his arrest in the Big Apple

Interestingly the promotion posters for the June 1 show has the players’ Collingwood jumpers stripped of any AFL or sponsor logos.
We’re tipping the Magpies hierarchy aren’t endorsing the tell-all given they’ve protected De Goey from all media requests since he returned from the club suspension over the New York arrest at the start of the season.
BROWNE’S BIG EXCLUSIVE OBSESSION
Optics was our buzz word last week and once again it has reared its head in the AFL media world.
Channel 7’s chief football reporter Tom Browne is one of the best newshounds in town and a prolific breaking of news on Twitter.
Browne isn’t afraid to throw the word exclusive around much to the amusement of other news outlets but a tweet on Friday night blew up the internet.
It read: “Exclusive. Scott Pendlebury is a late out with the flu for the Pies”.
In case you didn’t know Tom’s father is Jeff Browne, the new president of the Collingwood Football Club.
Regardless of where the information was sourced, on the optics meter having the son of the boss revealing changes to the team and claiming them as an exclusive might not pass the pub test for some.

Saints injury blow
Jack Steele will have surgery tomorrow on his ac joint.
Unfortunately will miss 6-8 weeks.
Very gutsy to play on.

In another blow for the Bombers, I also understand Cox will miss the remainder of the season through injury.

NICOLE’S DIARY FULL
Without flogging a dead horse (or should that be swimmer), an optics update about AFLW boss Nicole Livingstone.’
Last week we revealed she would be part of the Prime Video commentary team at the Australian Swimming Championships in Adelaide while the competition she runs remains in disarray, without a starting date and pay deal.
We were later told she would be taking her laptop with her and would still be checking into league headquarters in between swimming heats.
Well, it turns out Livingstone’s diary is filling up with more side gigs as next week she is scheduled to be the host of the premier of Tayla Harris’ documentary.
It’s fair to say she might receive a frosty reception from the many AFLW players who will be in attendance next Tuesday night at Crown’s Village Cinemas if she hasn’t managed to figure out when the new season starts.
ROUND 2: FOOTY V DENIS
Could Thursday night football return to 3AW?
We’re hearing there is a stalemate between the bosses in Melbourne and Sydney’s Nine Radio chiefs who made the original call to pull the plug on the AFL in favour of Denis Walter’s dulcet tones.
Should the current policy remain in place 3AW wouldn’t be covering some seriously big games coming up including Richmond v Carlton and a potential Grand Final preview between Brisbane and Melbourne.
Given the radio rights are being negotiated, the AFL is less than impressed with its No. 1 AM station ignoring Thursday nights.
TILEY’S BROADCAST ACE
Tennis Australia boss Craig Tiley has been keeping a low profile since January’s controversial Australian Open.
But the elusive Tiley has raised his head to announce a new broadcast deal with ESPN which will see the Open broadcast into the United States and Canada through to 2031.
Tennis Australia and ESPN have enjoyed a fruitful relationship, beginning back in 1984.
