James Brayshaw, Billy Brownless gutted after MMM sackings

Radio station Triple M has undergone a major shake-up, with one of the moves devastating broadcaster James Brayshaw.

McLaren made a huge mistake and the numbers prove it

The success of Melbourne’s Triple M Rush Hour show with James Brayshaw and Billy Brownless has had a devastating impact on some of their good mates.

The radio station is undertaking a major reshuffle, with established radio teams in Adelaide and Perth getting axed in favour of the Melbourne duo.

Andrew Jarman, Bernie Vince and Greg Blewett will be off the air by mid-November and what makes the move even more galling, they were winning their timeslot.

It’s understood Brayshaw is gutted for Blewett in particular, with the two former South Australian cricketers close mates.

Vince and Brownless also work together on the station’s weekend show Saturday Rub.

Jarman, Vince and Blewett have been on air together since early 2021 and were No. 1 in the ratings released at the end of August.

It appears to be a simple cost saving exercise for the station, which has decided one radio show can do the heavy lifting of three teams.

“It doesn’t make sense to any of us,” Blewett told the Adelaide Advertiser.

“Obviously our show was going great and we were rating really well but it’s a management decision in regards to the business.

“Unfortunately we’re the ones that have to pay the price.”

Jarman and Vince were both star footy players with the Adelaide Crows before moving into the media after their playing careers.

Perth’s version of The Rush Hour has been hosted by ex-West Coast Eagle Andrew Embley and Katie Lamb and is also being scrapped.

“Triple M thanks the teams from 104.7 Triple M Adelaide’s The Rush Hour with Bernie, Blewey & Jars and 92.9 Triple M Perth’s The Rush Hour with Embers & Katie for their exceptional work and commitment to deliver amazing entertainment to their loyal listeners,” a spokesperson for the station said in a statement.

“Bernie Vince, Greg Blewett, Andrew Jarman, Andrew Embley and Katie Lamb have all been outstanding broadcasters as part of the Triple M family and we thank them for their incredible contributions.”

The news comes after another big Triple M shuffle in recent months, with comedian Marty Sheargold quitting the station’s Melbourne breakfast show in July.

Comedian Wil Anderson, former AFL star Dale ‘Daisy’ Thomas and Triple M veteran Rosie Walton are now temporarily co-hosting the program until October 4, with permanent hosts for 2025 yet to be announced.

Dave Hughes and Kate Langbroek are among those who’ve been rumoured to be in the running.
