AFL star’s sad reply to Chris Hemsworth’s Grand Final Instagram post

Chris Hemsworth didn’t receive the result he was after on Saturday but kept the Western Bulldogs’ Grand Final defeat in perspective.

Western Bulldogs superfan Chris Hemsworth is used to posting photos of himself celebrating the team’s success but he struck a different chord this weekend.

Melbourne thrashed the Dogs in the AFL Grand Final in Perth, putting a dampener on the Hollywood star’s Saturday night.

But he wasn’t about to wallow in despair. Instead, Hemsworth kept things in perspective as he congratulated the Demons on breaking their 57-year premiership drought.

“What a season, what a game, congrats @melbournefc its (sic) been a while, well done, well deserved!” Hemsworth wrote on Instagram. “I’m a @westernbulldogs supporter through and through but I love the game @afl Thanks for an epic season!!”

Bulldogs star Jason Johannisen commented on the post with three crying emojis.

Hemsworth looked far more subdued this time around than he did earlier in the month when he took to Instagram after the Dogs’ nailbiting one-point win over Brisbane in week two of the finals.

Sadly for the man who plays Thor on the big screen, there was to be no repeat of 2016 — the last time the Bulldogs won the Grand Final, when Johannisen won the Norm Smith medal as the best player on the ground.

Five years ago Hemsworth showed off his huge guns as he rejoiced in that win over the Swans.
