Essendon will be out to claim its first win at the SCG and continue its early-season momentum when it takes on a red-hot Sydney in round 2.

The Bombers stormed to a 24-point victory over Hawthorn in round 1, but will face a much sterner test when they meet a Swans side which has already secured the scalps of Melbourne and Collingwood.

While Carlton and Brisbane have the first of the byes due to opening round, the third week of the AFL season still throws up several tough match-ups for tipsters.

Damien Hardwick’s Gold Coast can move to 3-0 and compound the early pressure with a win over Western Bulldogs, while Thursday’s primetime game between Collingwood and St Kilda has plenty at stake.
