An intense opening was countered by a double in the space of four minutes to put Warwick in control.

They extended that margin to an ominous 20-0 at halftime with Michael Bloomfield and Mathew Marshall causing problems for the Souths defence.

The Tigers had reason to cheer soon after the break with Mitchell Murphy getting them on the board in the 44th minute.

Nerves started to creep in for the Cowboys with Wade Austin getting the home side back to within two scores on the hour mark.

The Tigers helped to set up a grandstand finish over the last 10 minutes with Matthew Gainey cutting the score back to 20-16.

PITTSWORTH VS DALBY

The finals hopes of Dalby were kept alive after a 32-28 defeat of the Danes in Pittsworth.

It was Dalby that struck first through Mitch Taylor in just the fifth minute, but the Danes hit back with a lovely Chris Woodbridge kick capitalised upon by Brent Hearne.

A fortunate bounce helped Taylor to an early double, before he linked with brother Dylan to complete his hat-trick just before the halftime break.

Pittsworth needed a spark, and electric fullback Chris Woodbridge delivered, running almost the length of the field off a Dalby kick to bring it back to 16-12 at the half.

Just as the home side looked to be poised, a nice effort from Harrison Skinner helped to set up Mike Gaur to give the Diehards some breathing room.

That advantage was extended to 26-12 after Steve Franciscus got in on the action, making the task difficult for the Danes.

Just when they looked defeated, a strong burst from Blake Cullen kept them in the contest, before Woodbridge’s second brought the score back to 26-24 with 16 minutes remaining.

A botched kick-off gifted Dalby possession, and they again pushed the lead out to six with fullback Travis Babington scoring.
