A late grandmother's home has been lovingly passed from her six grandchildren to a betrothed couple, looking for their forever home.

The property at 32 Longlands St, East Brisbane, was being lived in by the owner and her granddaughter, living in separate parts of the dual-living accomodation.

With three bedrooms and three bathrooms, the house featured an original asymmetrical design, with a floor dedicated to the two living areas and a lower ground floor for the garage and utility rooms.

10 registered bidders arrived with a heavy interest in the property, with seven of them active participants in the fast-paced bidding war.

Starting at $900,000, around thirty bids took place as the competition whittled down to an investor and a couple fighting for the house.

With the house being called on the market at $1.15 million, bidding slowed when the price reached $1.295 million. With the investor making one last attempt for the house at $1.298 million, a $4,000 increase won the new family their home at $1.302 million.

Six grandchildren worked together to sell their late grandmother's home, and were happy to see it go to a new family.

The Agency Brisbane agent Madi Roche said it was "an emotional sale", following a lot of close calls between the underbidder and the final buyer.

"It was a very competitive auction," she said, adding the grandchildren were "very happy" the home was going to another family.

The home will now be owner-occupied by the new buyers: a young couple getting married in only a couple of months, who plan to tidy up the property.

"It will be their future family home," Ms Roche said.
