YOUR SAY: It's time to litigate against the rain

YOUR SAY: I used to look up to persons of authority because their positions led me to believe they were smarter than I was.

YOUR SAY: I used to look up to persons of authority because their positions led me to believe they were smarter than I was.

Things have changed.

In this dreadful time of unbridled litigation, we are now trying to blame someone for the devastating Grantham flood.

Did Wagners need permission to build a retaining wall on their property?

Did that wall cause the flood?

Did Queensland Rail need permission to build a rail system through Grantham and did this structure cause the flood? Who would have given permission anyway…the Queensland Government?

Events leading to the disaster happened so quickly, it was probably not possible to be ahead of the situation but the inquiry is still trying to distribute the blame.

If the extraordinary, unexpected volume of rain had not fallen from the sky, this catastrophe would not have happened. Apparently, we still need to apportion the blame, so do we go after whoever made the rain?

Can we do that?

I believe this enquiry could now move to Nepal to blame the people who built the houses that collapsed and killed so many people during the recent earthquakes.

Similarly, the houses would not have collapsed if there were no earthquakes.

Who made the Earth shake?
