PRINCE WILLIAM BREAKS PROTOCOL TO HUG PENSIONER

Prince William tore up the royal rule book to enter the crown and hug a tearful pensioner during a visit to Scotland in a stunning break from official protocol.

The Duke of Cambridge embraced William Burns, 66, in Glasgow during a two-day tour of the country as Kate beamed at the remarkable break in protocol.

The royal traditions that govern such public interactions, including a low bow, curtsy or polite handshake, were thrown out the window during the emotional moment.

Mr Burns teared up and wept in a sign of the “royal revolution” being rumoured for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who reportedly want to drop their titles in a bid to keep the monarch modern.

The future King also took selfies with the crowd during the pair’s first walkabout since rumblings of the shake-up first emerged over the weekend, according to The Sun.

It’s claimed that the “institutional change” was triggered after Kate and William’s tour in the Caribbean - as they’re now vowing to run affairs “The Cambridge Way” after backlash, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The Duke and Duchess aim to “rip up the rule book” and ditch old-fashioned methods to show they are royals who can change with the times.

The source added: “The general consensus was that the tour seemed out of date, out of touch, too formal and stuffy.

“It was a shock to them all. A real eye-opener.

“This is what prompted institutional change within the monarchy.”

“So now it’s more ‘Wills and Kate’ instead of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge... ‘Just call me Wills’ type of thing.”

They are said to be “perceived as the royal stars” who will “cement the monarchy’s position globally and secure the Commonwealth”.

The pair received a warm welcome in Scotland by the Wheatley Group - a community hub which transforms the lives of disadvantaged young people and families.

Elsewhere on their visit, the Duchess of Cambridge called for schools to teach empathy to young children to help their “emotional vocabulary” as adults.
