US politics live: ‘Ridiculous’: Obama erupts over Trump claim

Former President Barack Obama’s office has hit back at Donald Trump’s allegations of treason and sedition.

The US has announced it will leave a key United Nations agency because it’s “woke”.

UNESCO, the UN’s cultural and educational arm, is the latest part of the organisation to come under fire from the Trump White House which has already left the World Health Organisation.

Additionally, and in an unexpected move, a senior White House official – and Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer – is expected to meet with Jeffery Epstein’s accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell in the next few days.

Maxwell, who is in prison in Tallahassee for sex trafficking, could receive a visit from Deputy Attorney-General Todd Blanche who represented Mr Trump in his New York money trial.

It comes as Mr Trump continues to try and tamp down fury from some of his MAGA base after the FBI and Justice Department insist there is nothing to else to reveal from the so-called “Epstein files,” no Epstein “client list” and all the evidence points to the pedophile financier committing suicide.
