WHILE the 400M AgTech Investment Forum showcased 12 investor-ready projects, it also highlighted success stories.
One of the inspiring success stories was one of our own.
Toowoomba Engineering managing director Scott Farquharson talked about his company's transition to not only improve business but stay sustainable.
Toowoomba Engineering provides metal manufacturing services and also develops products for businesses across the state and Northern New South Wales.
Mr Farquharson and his two brothers bought the business in 2010 and built it up off the back of the mining sector.
"In about 2013, we did a lot of research into how we could diversify because we felt we were too heavy in one sector with only a few big customers," he said.
"We went from predominantly mining to predominantly agriculture and chose a couple of different paths to do so."
Then the brothers focused on using technology in the engineering business to make it stood out to its competitors.
"Our goal is to keep developing products that are about giving a better return on investment for farming and agriculture," Mr Farquharson said.
