Why Jondaryan Woolshed is closed for the next three months

THE Jondaryan Woolshed has been forced to cancel several events, after the board made the decision to close the tourist attraction for three months.

THE Jondaryan Woolshed has been forced to cancel several events, after the board made the decision to close the tourist attraction for three months while repairs are undertaken. 

In a post on social media, the Woolshed said the closure was needed following recent weather events. 

"In order to undertake the necessary repairs and upgrades, the difficult decision has been made to temporarily close the Jondaryan Woolshed. We anticipate the closure will be for three months and our staff have been trying to contact those people we believe may be impacted," the post said. 

"Please understand that the repairs and upgrades will ensure our grounds remain safe and support the ongoing maintenance and conservation of our historical assets for future generations.

"While our accommodation, food outlets and museum will be closed, existing function bookings and supervised tour groups will be honoured. Supervised visits of the historic Woolshed will be also available by appointment.

"We will be sharing more information about the work being undertaken in the coming weeks and months. Please stay in touch on social media or our website as we show you our progress."

Both the March Wedding Expo and the Easter Family Fun Weekend at the Jondaryan Woolshed have been cancelled as a resut. 

Toowoomba Regional Council CEO Brian Pidgeon said at the request of the Jondaryan Woolshed board, the council had provided expertise to assist with the necessary work. 

The Woolshed is operated on behalf of TRC by Jondaryan Woolshed Pty Ltd.
