ALTHOUGH spring is nearing its end to make way for summer, it's not stopping a few cool days sneaking in.

ALTHOUGH spring is nearing its end to make way for summer, it's not stopping a few cool days sneaking in.

Toowoomba residents woke to a chilly 10 degrees this morning, with 30kmh winds causing the apparent temperature to drop to 5.6 degrees.

Today will reach a maximum of 22 degrees and the next few days will follow a similar pattern.

Friday will range between 11 and 21 degrees, Saturday between 12 and 23 degrees and Sunday 11 to 21 degrees.

The weekend will be cloudy with a zero chance of rain.

The cooler weather is being caused by a surface trough that extends over the interior of Queensland which will gradually shift southwestwards towards the Northern Territory border during today and Friday.

A large high west of Tasmania will shift slowly eastwards over the next few days. The high will extend a firm ridge and onshore winds, as well as a cool, dry airmass.
