UPDATE 3:35PM: THE LOCKYER Valley has been included in the Bureau of Meteorology's latest severe weather warning.
At 3:30pm the Bureau warned that severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Mount Cotton, Dunwich, southern parts of North Stradbroke Island and northern parts of North Stradbroke Island.
These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to southeast.
While damaging winds and large hailstones are likely for a large part of southeast Queensland, Toowoomba has so far escaped unscathed.
Hail has been reported near Beaudesert, Kandanga, North Lakes and Banyo.
The next warning is due to be issued by 4:30 pm.
EARLIER 2:15PM: FOUR storm cells are moving across Southeast Queensland, prompting severe weather warnings from the Bureau of Meteorology.
The Bureau warns that, at 1:55 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Beaudesert, the area southwest of Noosa Heads, Eumundi, Imbil, Cooroy, Kandanga, Woodford and Dayboro.
These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to southeast.
They are forecast to affect Strathpine, Noosa Heads, the area west of Noosa Heads, waters off Noosa Heads, the area northwest of Noosa Heads and Amamoor by 2:25 pm and Maroochydore, Caloundra, waters off Caloundra, waters off Maroochydore, the area south of Noosa Heads and the area north of Noosa Heads by 2:55 pm.
Damaging winds and large hailstones are likely.
Hail 2-3cm in size has been reported near Beaudesert.
The next warning is due to be issued by 3:00 pm.
EARLIER: THE BUREAU of Meteorology has issued a warning for damaging winds and large hailstorms across Southeast Queensland.
Just after 1pm today, the bureau warned that severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near the area west of Kilcoy and Jimna.
These thunderstorms are moving towards the east.
They are forecast to affect Kilcoy, Kenilworth and Borumba Dam by 1:35 pm.
Damaging winds and large hailstones are likely.
The next warning is due to be issued by 2:05 pm.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
