Tuesday was the first day of the three day festival.

Sing Out committee co-ordinator Belinda Eldridge said Tuesday's performance was a beautiful night.

"We love seeing the response from the parents when the curtain goes up," Ms Eldridge said.

"All the children sang beautifully on the night, you could tell they had warmed up on the afternoon."

This year marks the 20th year of the choral festival where 1500 students from 47 schools from around the region will perform over the three days.

Paul Holley is the associate director of Voices of Birralee in Brisbane and is this year's guest conductor.
