THE Wagner family is suing property owners who were outspoken opponents of the Wellcamp airport.

Members of the Wagner family Denis, John, Neil and Joe are each suing Heather Marion Pascoe for $200,000, state media reports.

The claim was lodged on Monday this week.

Wagners claims that on January 20 last year that Ms Pascoe made false comments in a meeting with Ms Pascoe's husband, Michael Stewart and Frederic Pergay.

Ms Pascoe claimed that those responsible for ransacking her home on several occasions acted on behalf of the Wagners.

She allegedly said her life was under threat and the incident was linked to her "outspoken stance" against the Wagners and the Wellcamp airport.

Ms Pascoe also allegedly claimed that she and her husband David did not feel safe at their Wellcamp home and had moved.

The defamation claim states that Ms Pascoe's statements were false and had caused damage to the Wagners' reputations, causing "substantial hurt, distress and embarrassment''.

No defence has been filed by Ms Pascoe.
