WAGNERS has confirmed it is in preliminary talks and has appointed advisors as it investigates whether it will float the Toowoomba building materials company.
Chairman Denis Wagner said while there was no decision made about whether it would list the 28-year-old company, he confirmed the Australian Stock Exchange float "was an option we are considering".
His comments followed a report on The Australian that Wagners had embarked on a "non-deal roadshow" in Melbourne today, with others planned for Brisbane and Sydney.
"We're in discussions with people all around Australia and in fact internationally," Mr Wagner told The Chronicle.
"We have appointed advisors and are seeking their assistance.
"We're unsure where it is going to head. It was an option we are considering."
The Australian reported the ASX float could be worth about $500 million, with an understanding "that the family plan to retain between 50 per cent and 60 per cent of the shares after the listing of the company".
Mr Wagner said there was no timeframe on the possible move, and that the meetings were "preliminary talks".
