BREAKING: The Wagner family is suing Alan Jones for defamation after what it called years of "sustained attacks" from the Sydney shock jock.

BREAKING: The Wagner family is suing Sydney shock jock Alan Jones for defamation after what it called years of "sustained attacks" from the broadcaster.

In a statement issued this afternoon, the Wagner family said it had commenced proceedings against Mr Jones and broadcaster Harbour Radio Pty Ltd.

Wagners' director Denis Wagner said his family felt it had been "unfairly treated" and cited damaged to the family's reputation and commercial interests, particularly Wellcamp Aiport.

"The outsome of proceedings will hopefully in some way go toward correcting the false and defamatory statements about the 2011 Grantham flood tragedy and the Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport that have caused significant damage to the reputation of our family, the operation of the airport and our wider business interests," Mr Wagner said.
