NEARLY 20,000 avocadoes left Wellcamp Airport bound for the tables of Singapore on Friday night.
The fruit would be landing in the Asian city just days after being picked in Ravensbourne, Hampton or any other of five regions from Bundaberg down.
Ravensbourne avocado grower, packer and marketer Daryl Boardman of Sunnyspot Packhouse said he always knew Singapore was a great market to target.
"To see flights go from here (Wellcamp Airport) direct to Singapore is exciting, " he said, while watching as his produce was prepared for the flight.
