A SENIOR member of the Toowoomba Regional Council has had his contract renewed and extended for another three years.

Councillors at a meeting last month voted to extend planning and development general manager Stewart Somers' contract until 2022.

The motion at the confidential meeting on July 23 was moved by planning chair Cr Chris Tait and seconded by planning portfolio leader Cr Anne Glasheen.

"Stewart Somers be reappointed as the general manager, planning and development group under the terms of a three-year common law contract," the motion read.

"The following motion arising from the confidential report/closed meeting session was put without discussion or debate."

Cr Mike Williams voted against the reappointment, requesting his vote be recorded. The Chronicle approached Cr Williams for comment.

According to the 2017-18 TRC annual report, Mr Somers' remuneration is between $200,000 and $300,000.
