UPDATE: A MAN is recovering in hospital after he suffered injuries in a two-vehicle crash on the Warrego Hwy.
The road traffic controller had been sitting in his car on the side of the highway at Postmans Ridge when he was hit from behind about 3pm yesterday.
It is believed the incident happened when a traffic road works crew was finishing for the day and they had been collecting the witches hats and signs off the road when a vehicle collided with the rear safety traffic vehicle which was stationary at the time, alerting traffic to conditions ahead.
The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter airlifted the man, in his mid 50s, who suffered abdominal injuries to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
The occupants of the other vehicle received minor injuries.
YESTERDAY 5PM: The person trapped after a two-vehicle crash on the Warrego Hwy has been freed.
The incident happened on the Warrego Hwy at Postmans Ridge about 3pm.
One person has been airlifted to hospital by LifeFlight.
Delays are still expected on the highway.
EARLIER: 3.30PM: Paramedics are treating four people after a crash on the Warrego Hwy.
Two cars collided on the Warrego Hwy at Postmans Ridge just before 3pm in the east bound lanes.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said paramedics were treating four people for chest and abdominal injuries.
Delays are expected.

Emergency services on en route to the east bound lanes of the highway at Postmans Ridge.
The incident happened just before 3pm and initial reports suggest at least one person is trapped in a vehicle.
Motorists area advised to avoid the area.
