A man who allegedly climbed to the rooftop of a two storey building and threw broken glass down at police has been arrested along with a woman after a vehicle was also stolen.

Nathan Gregory Woodrow, 24, has been charged with enter dwelling, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and four counts of serious assault a police officer and will appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on April 22 after being remanded in custody.

Mariah Lauren Lynette Pitt, 20, was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is scheduled for a long plea in court on Wednesday, February 28, and remains in the watch-house.

Police allege the drama began at about 3.25am, when a silver Honda sedan was stolen from an Aitkenvale address in Townsville.

At about 12.30pm, the same vehicle became bogged in the front yard of a Wulguru property before a man and woman were seen leaving the vehicle on foot.

Police attended and arrested a 20-year-old woman nearby.

Around 2.30pm, police were called to a Stuart Drive facility following reports of noises heard in the ceiling.

Police attended and climbed up into the ceiling, where they located a man.

It will be alleged the man - later identified as Woodrow - broke through the roof ceiling and then left the facility on foot.

Police followed the man to a nearby property where he climbed up to the rooftop of a two storey building and allegedly threw broken glass down at police officers.

Police negotiators responded and at approximately 8.20pm, the man came down from the roof and was taken into custody.

No one was seriously injured as a result of the incident.
