A woman with the flag of Vanuatu tied around her neck sent a Townsville court into chaos after she threatened the magistrate with God’s wrath during a bizarre religious rant.

Julie Ann Leisha Malayta appeared in Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday on one charge of public nuisance but disrupted proceedings after threatening Magistrate Susan Warrington, exclaiming that Christ would “be coming down” on her and her family.

As Ms Malayta’s matter began to be heard, she shouted that she worked for Jesus Christ and questioned Magistrate Warrington about who she worked for.

“Who do you work for? I stand for Christ, I am a Christian woman mate,” she said.

As Magistrate Warrington attempted to speak, she was repeatedly interrupted by Ms Malayta, who declared, “I have no charges, it’s false accusations,” and claimed the police had followed her “like dogs.”

“I never done nothing wrong, I was preaching the gospel in the street, they came and harassed me mate,” Ms Malayta said.

Police prosecutor Nathan Smith requested the matter be adjourned for two weeks.

Ms Malayta spoke over Mr Smith and said she wanted the matter “thrown out of court today, mate,” because “Christ is coming down on you today.”

“My lord holds the power not you mate,” The woman continued.

Ms Malayta was told she could be arrested after she threatened Magistrate Keegan and her family and warned her to “be careful” about how she chose her words.

“Don’t threaten the magistrate in a courtroom or her family or you will be arrested and be taken outside,” Mr Smith said.

“We don’t need to listen to this gobbledygook.”

Magistrate Keegan told Ms Malayta she would adjourn the matter to June 30.

“No I’m not going to keep coming back mate I do not care, I’m under the lords law,” Ms Malayta said.

“You’re going to be judged today, he’s going to take each and every one of your family mate.

“My lord holds the power not you, this is His headquarters not yours.”
