A Townsville woman has big plans for a surprise Instant Scratch-Its windfall of $200,000.
The Bohle Plains resident’s winning $15 Crosswords Book ticket was purchased at Golf Links Mini Mart in Kirwan.
“I was grabbing some bread the other day when I purchased the ticket on a whim,” she said.
“I haven’t been able to sleep since I uncovered the top prize win – I’ve been up and down like a yo-yo.”
The woman said she was planning to use the prize money to help her father who needs a new car.
“More than likely the rest will go towards a house deposit,” she said.
“I can’t believe I’m saying that out loud! I didn’t think we’d be in the position to get a house for at least another couple of years.”
Golf Links Mini Mart owner Upen Singh said the news the shop had sold its first top prize-winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket had made his day.
“Our customers are likely going to be overjoyed and excited to hear that someone in the local area has won such a big prize,” he said.
“We extend our heartfelt congratulations … and we wish you all the best as you celebrate.”
In the 2024 financial year, there were 143 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $12.12 million in top prizes.
