An Alligator Creek man has won $1.2 million in Saturday’s Gold Lotto draw after buying a ticket from The Lucky Charm newsagency in Fairfield.
The man - who’s remained anonymous - was overwhelmed with emotion when Gold Lotto contacted him.
“I’ve been dreaming about this for a while. Thank you so much, thank you,” he said.
“I had no idea about this win. I was out all day helping friends and by the time I cam home, I was absolutely shattered. I didn’t have the energy to do anything, let alone check my ticket.”
The man said he couldn’t wait to tell his wife because “she always makes fun of me for only ever winning $100 here and there”.
When asked how he planned to enjoy the money, the Alligator Creek man revealed his long-held dream of buying a campervan and exploring Australia with his wife and close friends.
“We’ve always talking about how amazing it would be to buy a campervan and travel together. I never imagined it would actually happen - but now I can,” he said.
“I can’t stop crying! I’m being a sook now.”
The man’s winning 18-game QuickPick was purchased at The Lucky Charm Fairfield.
Newsagency owners Morris and Annette Peluchetti have owned the business for nearly 10 years and said they’ve had a few big wins.
“We’ve had other winners, a few big Scratchy wins and lotto wins,” Mrs Peluchetti said.
This includes a woman who won a Set For Life $4.8m prize after purchasing the winning entry from The Lucky Charm in 2017.
The Alligator Creek man was one of four division one winners in the April 5 Gold Lotto draw.
Each winner took home $1,260,543.
