Toowoomba’s horticulture expert Mike Wells reaches huge milestone with The Chronicle

There is nothing Mike Wells is more passionate about than horticulture and gardening, with sharing his insights with Toowoomba’s locals through The Chronicle a close second.
Writing for his column, The Garden Beckons, for nearly ten years, Mr Wells provides practical advice for the avid gardener.
“The majority of my articles are about good, sustainable gardening practices,” Mr Wells said.
As well writing feature articles, Mr Wells is the co-ordinator for the Chronicle Garden Competition.
This Saturday, Mr Wells will publish his 500th article, a huge milestone for the liaison who is committed to delivering expert knowledge on the gardening scene.
Readers of the Saturday paper can expect an informative piece on the use of grey water in the garden for Mr Well’s milestone article.
“When I write I continue to learn, some topics I need to research into … I have more than 400 books on gardening, and I tend to read books rather than use the internet,” Mr Wells said.
“I am always on the lookout for ideas from the community, I want to know what locals are interested in.”
