Young boy, 5, fights for life after tragic Murphy Creek motorbike fuel container explosion

A five-year-old boy remains in a critical condition with severe burns after a fuel container on the motorbike he was travelling on exploded on Father’s Day.

A five-year-old boy remains in a critical condition with severe burns after a fuel container on the motorbike he was travelling on exploded on Father’s Day.

The Queensland Ambulance Service was called to a property at Murphys Creek in the Lockyer Valley at 11am after the boy and his father on a motorbike were badly burned in the explosion.

The boy was flown to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in a critical condition. It is understood he received burns to his entire body.

The father, in his 20s, received burns to his face, chest and arms. He was taken to Toowoomba Hospital in a serious condition.
