Warmer, wetter autumn expected for Garden City

The Bureau of Meteorology has released its Autumn outlook – and there’s changes ahead.

The months from March until May are expected to be warmer and wetter than usual for Toowoomba, according to the Bureau of Meteorology’s autumn climate outlook.

Data from the report, released last week, shows the Garden City is “likely” to receive more than 156mm of rainfall in the next three months, beating the city’s median rainfall total for autumn.

There is a 37 per cent chance the city will receive as much as 200mm.

Overnight temperatures are expected to rise, according to BOM, with an 80 per cent chance that the minimum temperature will be warmer than the autumn median of 12.1 degrees.

The maximum temperatures are expected to remain close to the three month median of 23.9 degrees.

The current La Nina, which increases the likelihood of above average rainfall, is forecast to end during autumn.
