EARLIER: More than three years in the making, both the new Oaks Hotel and The Rock pub open in Toowoomba today.

Building developer Kenneth Wagner said he bought the site on Ruthven St, where the old Gladstone Hotel used to stand, in late-2016 before starting construction in early 2019.

He said he was looking forward to showcasing the five-storey, 102-room hotel, as well as the new pub and five independent retailers.

"It's been a long time coming so we're looking forward to have everything opening," Mr Wagner said.
