MINI golf and romance are words rarely used in the same sentence unless your Toowoomba’s Amy Morris.
Ms Morris, and a select group of other contestants, will appear on a special episode of Channel 7’s newest hit Holey Moley Australia scheduled to air next week.
Putting her golf skills to the test on a TV show was never one of the 27-year-old’s goals in 2021 but the opportunity to do so came as a welcome surprise after her father Rod sent in an application on her behalf
“I was a bit taken aback at first when I found out there was an application for me in process,” Ms Pearce said after she received a phone call from the show’s producers.
“But once I found out what the show was all about and did some research I was very excited to be a part of it.”
Ms Morris grew up with a golf club in her hands, but those skills didn’t give her any significant advantage.
“My aunty is a (golf) professional so I had a club in hand putting around the greens as a two-year-old,” she said.
“I did play a bit as a teenager but nothing really serious since then.
“My golfing ability didn’t help a whole heap, there was more obstacles than I was expecting.
“And I’m a part of the singles episode, which means I’m in a cocktail dress completing all these obstacles as if the obstacles weren’t hard enough without having a cocktail dress on.”
“But the natural ability handed down from my father and aunty helped a little on the shorter putts that were under pressure and I needed to make.”
Singles episode golfers have the chance of winning a date.
Holey Moley airs on Channel 7 at 7pm on Sundays, and 7.30pm Monday-Wednesday.
