When Toowoomba’s Anna Sillett arrived at Weetwood on Saturday afternoon, she never expected that she would enter Fashions on the Field.

But with a gentle nudge from her husband, and some encouragement from a few of the organisers, Ms Sillett entered and came away with an amazing win for best head dress.

Ms Sillett (pictured) won with a head piece she made herself, using artificial flowers from Premier Cane Toowoomba, and drawing inspiration from her favourite time of year – Spring.

“I just get dressed to how I feel and what I want to wear,” she said.

“It was really flattering to be approached to enter.”

Ms Sillett said it was a tough competition, with many incredible entries.

As a first-time entrant in any Fashions on the Field competitions, and a regular Weetwood attendee, she said one of the best parts of the day is seeing everyone dress to the nines.

“The part I love about the races is mostly just seeing what everyone puts together,” she said.

“There were so many amazing outfits.

“Everyone looked beautiful.

“It was amazing to have won the category with a design that I whipped up in two days.”

Ms Sillett said the event was one of the best she had attended, crediting the event’s move from Autumn to Spring as a major highlight of the day, and a reason for the high calibre fashion.

“Spring time is a more exciting time of the year, there’s lots of colour and prints and you're not so rugged up,” she said.

“Over time people are trying new things, everyone is giving something a go.”
