Toowoomba roasted in Sh*t Towns of Australia listing

A cult Facebook page with a mass following has labelled Toowoomba as one of this week’s “sh*ttest towns in Australia” and the reasoning has residents seeing the humorous side to the accolade.

Toowoomba is once again being roasted, making it to the Sh*t Towns of Australia list this week, coming in at number eight.

The cult Facebook page with just shy of 300,000 followers is dedicated to indexing Australian towns and mercilessly twists their defining characteristics and mocks them.

This week, Toowoomba’s reasoning for making it to the list was “man on meth rams cop cars and hides in a water tank after running from cops who aren’t even after him”.

There were many other Queensland towns on this week’s list with the Gold Coast coming it at number one.

While the page’s content may seem harsh, it is all done in good humour and with almost 3000 comments on the one post alone, many local residents were able to laugh at the fact we had made it to the list.

Helen Stone said: “I laughed so hard at the Toowoomba one and crimesville is slowly claws its way back to no one.”

The satirical page is so popular that the creators even brought out a book, listing all the “sh*ttest towns” in our country.

Toowoomba made the cut for that too, being called “Toowoombarbarians”, “Toowoombatards” and “Toowoompaloompas.”
