A vital medical service created by a Toowoomba man has won an international award for its innovativeness.
MedicReady was recognised in the 2020 international Global Health and Pharma Fitness and Nutrition Awards for Most Innovative Patient Medical Information Service Australia.
MedicReady was created by George Helon and is a kit including a range of first alert, accident, emergency and medical data for patients, motorbike riders and vehicle drivers.
It includes embossed key rings, medical data cards, magnets, stickers, vehicle and motorbike decals, lanyards and ID pouches for the elderly.
The kits also include medical information about the person carrying it.
The idea came to Mr Helon several years ago after dealing with years of medical issues due to a disorder he was born with.
Mr Helon is one of only 300 people worldwide to be diagnosed with multiple-anomaly genetic disorder pallister-hall syndrome.
Mr Helon said he was proud to receive the award as MedicReady was about fostering innovation in patient healthcare services and products.
“MedicReady’s range of services and products were conceived and have been developed as a means of affording people peace-of-mind when it comes to facing some of life’s unexpected certainties such as accidents, emergencies, hospitalisations, and medical attendances,” he said.
“It gives people the opportunity to acquire the resources and means by which one can better prepare for and deal with unforeseen situations in case of emergency without having to worry about ongoing cost, or being dependent on external relay service providers.
“Unlike similar services and merchandise on the market, MedicReady products are not membership, subscription, or premium dependent. You walk away with no more to pay.”
