Toowoomba Hospital has reopened to visitors after its Public Health Unit officers concluded their investigation into a suspected positive case.
The hospital shut its doors to visitors on Sunday afternoon over a “public health concern” related to possible exposure to the virus.
The investigation concluded on Monday afternoon.
Darling Downs Health’s Michelle Forrest said staff were confident in their infection control processes, but still saw a need to monitor the number of people who come through the hospital.
Only a handful of visitors were allowed into the hospital to see loved ones in the maternity and end-of-life wards if they had called ahead and spoken to the treating teams.
The hospital remained open to anyone who had booked an appointment or needed emergency care.
A Darling Downs Health spokeswoman confirmed on Sunday afternoon their public health unit was investigating a possible exposure of COVID-19 at the Toowoomba Hospital linked to the recent Goondiwindi cases.
But officials insisted, via social media, the hospital was not in a “lockdown.”
A Queensland Health spokeswoman confirmed that a visitor, who is a possible close contact of a confirmed case, had visited hospital on Sunday.
She said investigations are continuing.
Some restrictions remain in place at the Goondiwindi Hospital, where visitors are asked to stay away unless they are there to support someone in the palliative care and maternity care wards.
There are no new cases of Covid-19 in Toowoomba and the Darling Downs at this time, and no contact tracing alerts have been issued.
Health Minister Yvette D; Ath confirmed on Monday morning that Queensland recorded no new cases of locally-acquired Covid-19, however authorities are still uncovering more details surrounding the incident at Toowoomba Hospital.
