BUILDING approval values across the Toowoomba region in July hit their highest levels in seven months, according to the council.

New statistics from the council's planning and development group, handed down at a meeting yesterday, showed approvals were worth more than $60 million during the minth.

This is the highest value since December 2019, when approvals were worth more than $70 million.

It was also a big jump from the June result of $37 million.

Planning and development general manager Stewart Somers said the figure was possibly an aberration, pointing to a drop in values for August.

"It's a fair jump, but we're backed to $30.8 million for August, so July must have taken into account a couple of large developments," he said.

While there were just three new lots sealed in July, down from 57 the month before, Mr Somers flagged a much larger number of new sites had been recently sealed and would be highlighted next month.

Round-table meeting
