Toowoomba company McNab Constructions promises day off for workers to get vaccine

With the Toowoomba region racing past the halfway mark for vaccinations, one local firm has offered some generous incentives to ensure its entire workforce gets jabbed.

McNab Constructions director Michael McNab says workers at the Toowoomba-based construction company will be given an extra day off if they get the Covid-19 vaccine.

A Toowoomba construction company has ramped up its efforts to have its entire workforce vaccinated against Covid-19 by promising a day off for those who got the jab.

McNab Constructions said employees would get a bonus day off on the day of their second shot, with the reward also acting as a thankyou to workers after a challenging period for the sector.

Managing director Michael McNab said the company firmly believed in vaccinations as a way of navigating the state and the country out of the grips of Covid-19.

“One only has to look to the southern states to see the long-term impact that a Covid-19 outbreak can have on our community,” he said.

“We know that vaccination is the only way to navigate out of this pandemic, so thanking our staff for rolling up their sleeves is the least we can do.

“This is about giving our team members something to look forward to when they get their second vaccination; a bonus day off to go to the beach, catch up with a friend or spend time with the family.

“The past 18 months have had their challenges, and if vaccination is the ticket to restoring a level of life pre-Covid, there’s reason to celebrate.”

McNab also organised pop-up vaccine clinics at its construction sites on the Sunshine Coast, helping to jab 50 workers in the process.

“The pop-up vaccination clinic was about the construction industry banding together in the country’s comeback against Covid-19,” Mr McNab said.

It comes as the Toowoomba region hit a major milestone in the race for jabs, with 50 per cent of eligible population now double-dosed.

The result puts the local government area at 14th across the entire state for double-dosed adults.
