A three car crash has caused traffic delays on a major Toowoomba thoroughfare road in peak hour traffic.

Three cars have collided at a major Toowoomba thoroughfare causing delays and congestion during peak hour traffic.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of West and Stephen Streets after three cars collided at 7.40am on Wednesday morning.

The three cars have caused extensive traffic delays, with one wrapped around an electricity pole and the other surrounding it.

Numerous tow trucks were on scene as traffic travelling towards the city was backed up along West Street, South Street and Drayton Rd, with the right turning lane being the only lane open on the intersection city bound.

Paramedics said they treated three men with minor injuries, but all declined transport to the hospital.
