Vonnie Meier’s soap making business is going from strength to strength with more requests for her incredible homemade products.
Last year Von-Katz Soaps and Gift Baskets was given the opportunity for people around the world to sample her products with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) approaching her to be one of 60 businesses to represent Australian produce in major international events.
Now, her soaps will have a positive impact on the ocean with Sea Shepherd Australia approaching Ms Meier to create their corporate fundraising merchandise.
Sea Shepherd is an international, non-profit marine conservation organisation that campaigns to defend, conserve and protect the world’s oceans.
It was Toowoomba chapter co-ordinator Gary Watson who approached Ms Meier about working together.
Ms Meier said she created 500 black and white activated charcoal vegan soaps which were ethically and ecologically made.
“Working with Sea Shepherd is a very humbling and satisfying experience,” she said.
“There are very strict criteria involved to be accepted as a supplier.
“Ingredients and manufacture need to be ecologically and environmentally friendly and even the labels are compostable too.
“The local Toowoomba Sea Shepherd chapter will sell them at the Queens Park Markets every third Sunday of the month.”
“The other chapters will sell them at their market stalls and will also appear on international store website.
“It’s exciting as this has the potential to reach other markets overseas as people experience the excellent quality of these soaps.”
