A local water purification company says demand for their products as is booming as more residents take their health seriously in the wake of COVID-19.

Aqua 4 Life was founded in 2014 by David Athorn and has been a bustling business ever since its inception.

But Mr Athorn said his services were more in demand recently, as residents looked more into their health and wellbeing during the pandemic.

“We specialise in filtration products that remove chemicals and bacteria in water from any source whether that is town water, tank water, bore water or river water,” he said.

“The importance of our health and wellbeing is utmost with water one of the hardwired structures of the human anatomy.

Mr Athorn claimed filtered water offered a number of health benefits as well as financial benefits, pointing to studies that had established possible links to chlorinated water and certain types of cancer.

“Our systems remove the chlorine and chemicals, leaving it in its purest form,” he said.

“They also save you money by stopping the need for you to buy bottled water. An average household can spend upwards of $500 a year on plastic water bottles, which is also bad for the environment.”

Purification systems aren’t just for homeowners – those renting are also able to benefit from filtration products, as there are a number that don’t need to be installed permanently, including the counter top filters and shower filters.

Tori Maguire just had both installed in her rental, and said it was life-changing.

“Since moving to Toowoomba a year ago, the chlorine in the water had reacted with my scalp causing it to be dry, itchy and flaky,” she said.
