Second person dies after horror crash on Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road
A 12-year-old girl has been confirmed as the second death after a truck collided with an SUV just outside Toowoomba. Several others suffered life-threatening injuries in the horror crash.

A 12-year-old girl has been confirmed by police as the second person to be killed in a horror collision between an SUV and truck on Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road.
The SUV was carrying six people.
A 29-year-old woman died at the scene.
A young girl suffered critical head and spinal injuries and was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, while a teenage girl suffered critical head and abdominal injuries and was flown to the Queensland Children’s Hospital.
One of these girls, the 12-year-old has since passed away.
A man aged in his 30s, suffered critical head and chest injuries and was flown to the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital.
Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics treated a primary-school-aged boy and girl for minor injuries and transported them to the Toowoomba Hospital by road.
The male truck driver, 39, also suffered minor injuries and was transported by road to the Toowoomba Hospital.
Charlton Fire Station station officer Brad Rosenblatt said the incident was shocking for all involved, including a group of passing motorists who rendered first aid while waiting for paramedics to arrive.
“It was pretty confronting for the crews when we arrived,” he said
“We have six people injured in one vehicle as well as the truck driver.”
He thanked the passing motorists who had helped out.
“They have done an amazing job to first up be able to go over to the scene and assist the patients in the vehicle,” station officer Rosenblatt said.
The SUV suffered significant damage in the collision, and firefighters needed cutting equipment to free the occupants from the wreck.
Station officer Rosenblatt said the crash was a timely reminder for motorists to drive to the conditions while on country roads.
“I wouldn’t class (Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road) as a high-risk road because it is the same as any other country road,” he said.
