Toowoomba is home to some incredible newborn and family photographers with three local businesses taking out awards at the annual Find A Photographer Australia Photography Business Awards.
Sarah Gage Photography was named the National and Queensland Photography Business of the Year.
Christie-Lee Johnston Photography was listed in the Top 5 for Nationals and Top 10 for Queensland, and Amy Philp Photography was listed in the Top 20 for Queensland.
The Find A Photographer Awards recognise the incredible contribution that professional photographers make to their local communities.
These awards are unique in that votes are calculated according to a number of factors but most importantly, client reviews.
They take into consideration the full picture when running a photography business from client experience to price, quality of imagery speed and studio design.
Sarah Gage is a multi-award winning portrait photographer specialising in newborn, baby and maternity photos.
She said she felt proud to have won both the national and state award.
“The difference with these awards is that the winners were primarily chosen by client reviews,” she said.
“I loved reading all the beautiful reviews from my clients. I work very hard to create beautiful images for my clients and knowing that they are happy means to world to me.
“I am very lucky that I have a job that I truly love.
“I photograph newborns around one to two weeks of age, and it is a privilege to meet families and capture this special time in their lives.
“I also love welcoming my clients back to the studio as their babies grow through their first year, and when they add more children to their family.
“I hope to be still photographing babies for many years to come, and one day I would love to photograph the next generation ‘babies of babies’.”
She said she wanted to thank all her clients.
“Thank you to all of my clients who left me a review towards the awards, and to all of my clients for your continued support over the years,” she said.
“Sharing your images on social media, hanging your portraits proudly on your walls at home, recommending me to families and friends has helped my business to grow immensely.”
Ms Gage prides herself on having a safe environment for babies when photographing them and said it was important to do your research before booking in with a photographer.
“The newborn stage is so fragile and fleeting. It really is true that you can’t get these moments back,” she said.
“When choosing a photographer I highly recommend that you do your research by reading the client reviews and making sure your photographer is experienced in working with newborns so that they are kept safe.”
