Thousands of keen runners gathered at Picnic Point on Sunday to run out from the low-hanging clouds all the way down to the low-lying Lake Annand.
First time participants Zoe and Ben Choice took on the challenge of not only running the 10km trek, but also pushing a pram with a kid (or three) in them.
“It’s great to do something together as a family,” Zoe said.
She admitted she had to drop all her expectations and “just have fun” with her kids as her husband Ben pushed their two-year-old twins in one pram, and she pushed her four-year-old daughter in the other.
“It’s not too often you get to run with a big crowd, and it certainly makes it easier,” she said.
The Highfields family is in training for their own separate marathons – with Zoe training for the Noosa half-marathon, and Ben setting his goal on the 100km Noosa trail where he expects he’ll be on the jog for 12-13 hours.
She said it was nice to take on a track with enough “hills and slogs” to make it challenging, but then ended with “flats and downhills” towards the end.
Started in 2016 just to get people out and about, this year’s Peak2Park drew more than 2000 people, with the majority of them running the 10km track.
The event fundraised for the three charities, Top Blokes, Sunrise Way, and Ability Enterprises.
