Oakey, Toowoomba crews turned out to Gladsby Street fire

Police and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services have launched an investigation after a blaze ignited inside an Oakey home.

Investigators suspect an electrical fault is to blame for sparking a fire that damaged an Oakey home.

The fire took in the Gladsby Street home shortly after 6pm on Thursday.

QFES Acting-Inspector Stewart Lange said three crews from the Oakey and Charlton Fire Stations were called to the incident.

They had the fire under control within eight minutes.

“The Oakey crew did an excellent job of contain and extinguish the fire,” he said

“They searched the building and confirmed there were no occupants.”

Investigators are yet to confirm the exact cause of the fire but Acting Insp Lange said it could have easily burned out of control.

“There was some great firefighter action by the Oakey crews,” he said.
