The owner of a popular eatery in the Toowoomba CBD has sold the business after more than seven years serving pizza and pies to the community.
Rob Balderson opened Pizza and Pie Co on Margaret St in 2014 and made the decision to sell the business earlier this month.
He announced the sale on Facebook, thanking everyone for their support over the years.
“We are extremely grateful for the many successful years of business we have had, we couldn’t have done it without our amazing customers and staff,” it read.
“We would like to thank everyone for the support.”
Now, new owners have taken over with Rakesh Patel planning on keeping the store’s offering much the same but also adding some new menu items.
“I was a student studying accounting in Sydney two months ago, but I was finding it difficult to get a job in the field,” he said.
“It’s actually always been my long-term dream to own my own business like Pizza and Pie Co so I decided to buy the business.
“It’s definitely different to accountancy but I am really enjoying it.
“Rob is staying on for a month to train my wife and so we can keep the business much the same but I want to add some new menu items.
“At the moment we sell 10 different types of pies, a range of pizzas as well as salads, sandwiches and muffins but I would also like to add hot chips and gravy, chicken balls and onion rings.
“I’m also thinking of selling kebabs at night in the future once we’ve settled in.”
Pizza and Pie Co is open 7am to 4pm Monday to Saturday at 195 Margaret St.
