A TOOWOOMBA retiree says she’s still reeling after discovering what she initially thought was a $250 win was actually a $100,000 Instant Scratch-Its prize.

The woman, who remained anonymous, said she couldn’t believe her good fortune.

“I buy a couple of scratchies when I’m out shopping and then I usually go sit at a cafe and have a coffee while I scratched them,” she said.

“I won $7 on one of the tickets, so I went and got a couple more and headed home.

“That night I was sitting at home scratching the last one and I thought I’d won $250.

“Then I realised I had another word and that I could have won $1000. I was thrilled.

“When I took the ticket back to the newsagency the next day they told me they couldn’t pay out the prize, it was too big.

“So we rechecked the ticket and discovered there were 10 words there.

“I immediately started crying. I couldn’t believe it. And I couldn’t sleep that night.”

The winner said she would treat herself to a new car and new furniture.

The ticket was purchased at Wyalla News and Post.
