Toowoomba crowned its hottest farmer yesterday at a fun-filled competition at the Spotted Cow Hotel.
Murphy’s Creek cattle farmer Brenton Bowtell took out the win, with Farmer Wants A Wife farmer Alex part of the judging panel.
“I wasn't expecting it at all, but it does feel pretty good to win,” Mr Bowtell said.
“It all kicked off about 1.30pm with the judging. Farmer Alex was here judging, and they asked us some questions about our farming background and a few things about ourselves.
“We were then judged on our personalities, what we were dressed in and our responses.
“It was a lot of fun, and I’m really honoured to have won.”
Mr Bowtell, 31, said he was encouraged to take part in the competition by friends.
“I had a bit of peer pressure from a few friends, and I decided I would go for it – I’m very glad I did,” he said.
“It’s great to get involved in a community event as well.
“It’s important to support local businesses like the Spotted Cow (Hotel), especially on a day like Australia Day.”
Mr Bowtell took home a $1000 cash prize, as well as a shiny new title.
