Groom MP Garth Hamilton said there was “a level of anxiety in the community” that needs to be addressed over a proposal for a quarantine hub at Wellcamp.
“It’s the Premier’s responsibility to do that,” he said.
The paucity of detail following the Premier’s announcement of the proposal for a quarantine hub for returning travellers in Toowoomba on Friday caused significant concern in the community.
Mr Hamilton said “the one shining ray of light here is the inclusion of Wagners in this idea”.
“We all know how competent they are and it’s good to see them involved and I think that’s a big positive.”
Mr Hamilton said he understood the Premier and the Prime Minister had already had “productive conversations”.
“What I think is most important is that the community consultation process kicks in early on and I think we need to see the Premier lead that now.”
