Lockyer Valley prison jobs: Position pays $100k, requires no experience

Looking for a change of career? These jobs in a new Queensland prison require no experience or qualifications, and offers up to $110,000 per year.

The Queensland Government is still on the hunt for Custodial Correctional Officers for the new prison being built between Brisbane and Toowoomba.

This position, according to the job description, requires no experience or qualifications and perform a range of the duties in the Lockyer Valley Correctional Centre when it gets up and running by the end of 2024.

The job can involve inducting prisoners, staffing the prisoner accommodation units, operating control rooms, perimeter searches and external escorts.

To apply, those interested can head to the Smart Jobs website and submit a resume to Queensland Corrective Services.

It isn’t the only organisation looking to fill positions in the new prison.

West Moreton Health is also hosting information nights in a bid to attract more nurses, doctors, administration and pharmacy staff.

Events will be hosted at the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre on July 31 and September 18, and the Toowoomba Library on August 28.

The new high-security prison will have more than 1500 beds, with a focus on rehabilitation.

Some of the aspects of the new prison includes no bars on the windows, green space, and functional spaces.
