Police investigating the suspected murder of a Crows Nest woman have announced a reward is on the line for anyone able to provide information on the 61-year-old mother’s death.

The $500,000 reward has been offered for anyone who can provide information on other people involved in the alleged planning of the woman’s murder.

Toowoomba Detective Senior Sergeant Paul McCusker said police believe at least one other person was involved in the alleged planning of Ms Chopra’s death.

“This investigation is not over,” he said.

“We had a great response from members of the community that have come forward and provided information to police, but we believe there are still people out there with information about this serious crime.”

The reward, stumped up by the state government, comes with the condition that it would only be paid if it led to a conviction.

In addition to the reward, an appropriate indemnity from prosecution will be recommended for any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the crime, who first gives such information.

Additionally, anyone who was in the Park Road area of Crows Nest on January 20, 21 and 22 to contact police to discuss their observations and movements.

The body of Krishna Chopra was found by a friend in her Park Road home on January 31, 2022, sparking a large-scale investigation that saw a number of properties searched for clues on how she died.

Some two months after Ms Chopra’s body was found, 33-year-old Pratten man Simon Jones handed himself in to police at Warwick Police Station where he was charged with the murder of his mother-in-law.

Police allege that Ms Chopra died as a result of blunt force trauma sometime between January 20 and 21 and investigations were continuing into the matter to identify if anyone else was involved.

During the course of the investigation, police located a torsion bar that had been shortened to about 47cm, which police believe suggest it was modified for a particular purpose, but the purpose of the modification was unknown.
