Jonathan Wright charged with murder of Paul Sia following alleged Withcott hit and run on November 20
A Rockville man has had his charges upgraded to murder after an alleged hit and run last month.

A 46-year-old Rockville man originally charged with attempted murder has had his charges upgraded after the man he allegedly intentionally ran over died in hospital.
Police claim that Paul Sia was deliberately struck along Toowoomba Connection Road shortly after 3pm on Sunday, November 20.
Mr Sia was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he died on Saturday, December 3.
On November 21, 46-year-old Rockville man Jonathan Wright was charged with one count of attempt to murder, two counts of endangering the safety of a person in a vehicle with intent, and one count of dangerous operation of motor vehicle.
Police have officially upgraded the attempted murder charge to murder, with Mr Wright to next appear before Toowoomba Magistrates Court on January 20, 2023.
Wright’s barrister David Jones KC during what was to be a bail application before
Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Friday, December 2, said should Mr Sia die then the bail application would have to be heard by the Supreme Court.
“Advice has been given about whether the life support should be removed and if that is the case, obviously, the applicant (Wright) expects the Queensland Police Service to change the charge from attempted murder to murder.”
Mr Wright remains in custody, with police appealing for witnesses and dashcam vision and a missing Holden Rodeo utility.
