DARLING Downs Health officials have said the phones have been ringing hot since they announced they would open a Covid vaccine super clinic from today.

The eight-bay clinic at Baillie Henderson Hospital opens from 7am with officials setting a target of administering 2000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine by Sunday evening.

If successful it will see a significant jump in the number of people vaccinated at Queensland Health facilities in Toowoomba.

Outside of Toowoomba 118 people have been vaccinated at Millmerran, 145 at Dalby, 49 at Gatton and 370 at Warwick.

Our vaccination rates has fallen far behind that of other major centres with 18,586 people vaccinated at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and 35,987 at the Gold Coast University Hospital.

The Baillie Henderson super clinic will be open to everyone who wants a Pfizer jab, but the clinicians will prioritise aged care and disability support workers, as well as people aged 40-49 and people who register in advance.

“While we may be able to accommodate walk-ins, we encourage people to keep an eye on our social media channels for rolling updates about capacity over the weekend,” a spokeswoman said.

Residents are asked to bring their Medicare card, a form of identification and a pen.

The clinic will be held at the Maudsley building.
